Precious plastic. Get use to it. Now.

So, in 2013 the Dutch guy Dave Hakkens is showing his plastic shredding and moulding machines at the Design Academy Eindhoven graduation show. That’s how Precious Plastic have started. Ofc, it started when he got an idea, or he was born. Doesn’t really matter. What’s matter is that until now which is 11 year since the graduation show his ideas and people involved in it grow with him, spreading around the globe. Now we have a set-up all around the word where people who are interested in saving it by recycling waste are using their blueprints and videos. Anywhere with an internet connection and by anyone. Here we have their explanation: A Big Bang for plastic recycling:

That’s astonish how simple it can be. They prepared starter kits, so if you feel like starting your own collection point, or machine shop, or you would like to learn bits and pieces of everything you also can do it with their manual for free.

On a top of that they have built a community, so if you actually make a product or the material for the product you can share it and sell it on their Bazar, how cool and supportive is that?

And the Precious Plastic Academy, where Dave explains video after video about transforming plastic waste into valuable products. Here is the first one, funny guy this Dave.

Also, now they call themselves One Army. You know, One Army towards united goal, I dig that.

SHORTCUT:

WHY?

Don’t be silly you know why, we are basically breathing, eating, pooping and swimming in plastic. That material revolutionized our lives as well as it ended, a period where you can not think about your choices because they actually matter. I’m not in position to lecture anyone, my everyday choices are not perfect, but it’s good to know that there is actually an Army of positive impact changers who are giving a solution. If you would like to, for example, make a colourful kitchen table or if you would like to buy a hundred of school stools and give it to school in need. There is an option to do double or triple good here, and that counts double or triple, and I love deals like that! Do you?

FOR WHOM?

You could be an engineer with lots of free time, or a dad or a mum or an uncle or an aunt, or anybody who want to try to change the world just a little or just a lot. I know that sounds super boring like almond family boring, but that’s the facts. If I’m going to have a shop or a non-alcoholic bar or a breakfast place once, all its furniture will be made from our precious plastic and they will be beautiful.

HOW MUCH?

Depends on a need. You could go crazy and buy the machines for thousands, from which you could make a produce worth thousands, or you could buy a pot or a screwdriver. All is up to you, go and life your life as you please.

Precious Plastic Bazar of Wonders
